In a surprising comment, Ferran Torres announced that he was ready to leave Barcelona, and even specified the destination he wished to move to, amid rumors that the Catalan club wanted to sell him and obtain a large amount of money that would help balance the accounts of fair financial play and reduce the salary block.
Ferran Torres, whose contract cost him 55 million euros, did not live up to the expectations of the club and its fans. He is out of Xavi Hernandez’s accounts and plays a secondary role with him this season.
Ferran Torres reviewed the news of Valencia, the club in which he trained as a professional soccer player before moving to Manchester City and Barcelona, in statements he made to public television in the city of Valencia.
When asked about the possibility of returning to Mestalla, the current Barcelona striker did not close the doors to this option. He commented on this by saying: “I never close the doors. I hope to be back in Valencia tomorrow. I’ve always said it: it was my club and it’s the club I love the most. Of course, why not?”
Torres also admitted that it hurts him to see the sporting situation Valencia are going through and hopes he can be saved. “Valencia must be in the first division and among the best in Spain. I hope they can be rescued as soon as possible.”
Regarding his departure from Mestalla in 2020, he is aware that “lies were told and things were leaked that hurt me when the truth was never known. It’s a negotiation, but I don’t take it seriously. A higher transfer has closed, but I think I’ve left a good amount of money – €25m plus variables – to help the club as much as possible.”
